Jim Fetridge faithfully hangs his flag on the appropriate holidays: Independence Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day and especially Veterans Day, says this Vietnam vet.

Tuesday night, Fetridge went down to the basement and unfolded the flag. It's now hanging from the balcony of his two-story home, facing the street, near Washington Park.

"I just wanted to show everybody that this is a house that supports the United States," said Fetridge, 61.

To him, the flag symbolizes "a unity and a collectiveness that the American people have."

Pride in his country is something Fetridge has always felt: "I still cry when I sing 'The Star-Spangled Banner' at baseball games."
