Streets in Pajacuarán, Mexico, have been paved and the town church now has
two steeples instead of one because of money sent home from Mexican workers
in Washington fields. Altogether, Mexicans working in the United States send
an estimated $6 billion a year home. Money earned in the United States feeds
families, renovates kitchens and buys big, roomy trucks that bring some
workers home for winter holidays.
