This arch graces one of the fully paved roads in Pajacuarán and welcomes visitors to town. The rural village is home to about 20,000 people -- a third of whom work in the United States. The town is woven with cobblestone lanes and rutted dirt paths. But some side streets are paved in odd patches, a sure sign that the homeowner has relatives who work in America and send money home.
