1928 When birds-eye views fell out of fashion around 1900, they were replaced in part by cartoon-style maps such as this 1928 version, drawn for an education convention. By this time, the city had completed its major earthmoving projects: digging the Ship Canal, leveling Denny Hill and creating the massive landfills south of Pioneer Square. Note that the Lake Washington parkway is already a local tourist attraction.
