The Elwha: Travel a river being reborn

Daniel Hernandez, in this photo taken in July 2010, snorkels up a tiny side channel of the Elwha River. Hernandez was doing a snorkel survey of the channel to count and identify fish, as part of an effort by an interagency team of scientists to assess the baseline condition of the Elwha before dam removal.
