Performers sing for their supper, and to help a friend, at Lake Union Café

Performers from Seattle's music/theater scene reunite on Wednesday to help a local performer who used to appear at Great American Food & Beverage Company.

Singing waiters, sirens of swing music, and other faves from Seattle's thriving cabaret scene of the past few decades will reunite for a cause Wednesday night: a song-filled benefit and auction to help one of their own, performer Dawn Thompson, pay medical costs associated with her battle with breast cancer.

The lineup at the Lake Union Cafe (formerly known as the singing-waiters nightspot the Great American Food & Beverage Company, and now a private banquet facility) will include notable local comedians Peggy Platt and Lisa Koch, composer Scott Warrender, Terry Palasz (aka the Polish Diva from Milwaukee), the Sirens of Swing, the Smilin' Scandinavians Polka Band and others.

7 to 11 p.m. Wednesday, Lake Union Café, 3119 Eastlake Ave., Seattle; $15 at the door.
