Hansa, who in 2000 became the first elephant born in Washington state, is shown painting a door in this 2005 photo. The elephant-painted doors were to be sold to benefit Gilda's Club Seattle, which provides support for people with cancer. The elephants weren't new to the art business: The first elephants were taught to paint in 1996.
