Glines Canyon Dam's last summer was its most glamorous. This photo, taken in August 2011, shows the full power of the river running through the dam's wide-open spill gates. The result of the shutdown of power generation at the dam in preparation for dam removal, the river's full flow was diverted around the powerhouse. Flows also were unusually high because of a record cold spring and above-average snowpack.
