The Elwha: Travel a river being reborn

This rainbow trout is losing its breakfast as scientists use a blunt-tipped needle to gently flood water into its stomach, flushing out its contents so they can see what the fish is eating. It was one of many data-gathering exercises by the scientists to learn how the Elwha ecosystem functions today, to better understand how it changes after dam removal.
