Scientists set up a seine in the lower Elwha River in July 2010, aiming to catch fish and gently pump their stomachs to determine what the fish are eating. The interagency team, which was gathering baseline data from the river to learn how it changes after the dams come out, was led by George Pess (in black, back to camera), of NOAA's Northwest Fisheries Science Center in Seattle.
