Gordon, Egan among PEN/Faulkner award nominees

NEW YORK —

Jaimy Gordon's "Lord of Misrule," winner of the National Book Award for fiction, is among the five nominees for the PEN/Faulkner prize.

The other finalists, announced Wednesday, were Jennifer Egan's "A Visit From the Goon Squad," Deborah's Eisenberg's "The Collected Stories of Deborah Eisenberg," Eric Puchner's "Model Home" and Brad Watson for "Aliens in the Prime of Their Lives." Among the missing: Jonathan Franzen's acclaimed "Freedom."

The winner, to be announced March 15, receives $15,000. Previous winners include Philip Roth and Don DeLillo.
