Pike Place Market Centennial Days Events

A week of activities culminates Friday Aug. 17 with the Market's 100th birthday celebration.

Saturday |

On stage: Total Experience Gospel Choir at 11:30 a.m. and Deems Tsutakawa Group at 1:30 p.m.; Chef demo at 1 p.m.

Sunday |

"Day of Puppetry" 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; on stage: Fabulous Roof Shakers at 11:30 a.m. and Roy Kay Trio at 1:30 p.m.; chef demo at noon

"Voices of the Market" theatrical tribute to the Market's founding families 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Monday |

On stage: Kuteeyaa Dance Troupe at 11:30 a.m. and Salsa Jazz Cuban at 1:30 p.m.; Seattle Sounders at noon

Tuesday |

On stage: Leroy Bell and his Friends at 1 p.m.

Wednesday |

On stage: Sonando at 11:30 a.m. and The Brian Butler Band at 1:30 p.m.; chef demo at 1 p.m.

Thursday |

On stage: Pearl Django at 11:30 a.m. and The Jason Parker Group at 1:30 p.m.

Friday |

8 to 9 a.m. free coffee and onion tarts near Flower Row;

9:30 a.m. historic reenactment of Aug. 17, 1907;

10 to 11:45 a.m. on stage: Market Buskers perform;

Noon to 12:45 p.m. remarks from dignitaries and commendations for longtime market vendors;

free birthday cake;

1 p.m. Alice Shorett signs her updated and re-titled book on Market history, "Soul of the City: The Pike Place Public Market";

1 to 5 p.m. street activities, including live music, chef demos, programs for kids and a competitive salmon toss;

6:30 to 10 p.m. concert at Victor Steinbrueck Park, headlined by The Iconics, a one-time assemblage of local musicians.

Vehicle traffic restrictions Pike Place, along with Pine and Stewart Streets at First Avenue, closed 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day Saturday through Thursday, and Friday 8 a.m. to midnight. Also Friday: Virginia Street closed noon to midnight; Pike Street closed 8 a.m. to midnight; Western Avenue, from Lenora to Seneca Streets, closed 6 to 10 p.m.

Virginia and Pike Streets closed Friday from 8 a.m. to midnight.

Western Avenue from Lenora to Seneca Streets closed Friday from 6 to 10 p.m.
