The state Employment Security Department said Monday it has created a special phone line for anyone who became unemployed as a result of the March 22 mudslide near Oso, Snohomish County. The phone line also is for anyone who already had an active unemployment-benefits claim, but is unable to look for work or could not file a claim last week because of the disaster.

Employment Security said it will temporarily waive their job-search requirements, as well as reopen and backdate claims for anyone who lost phone or Internet access last week.

The toll-free number is 855-636-5610, option 1.

Local WorkSource offices, including one in Everett at 3201 Smith Ave., offer free phone and Internet access to anyone who needs to file an unemployment claim or look for work, the department said.
