Racial changes in Seattle's schools

In 1977-78, the year before the Seattle School District began busing students to integrate schools, the district identified 26 schools that were considered racially out of balance. That meant the minority enrollment was 20 percentage points higher than the district average, or one minority made up more than half the school's population. Busing changed that. Today, using the same definition, most of those schools have resegregated, and even more schools have joined the list.
