State pushes prescription painkiller methadone, saving millions but costing lives

Dr. Michael Schiesser, a Bellevue pain specialist, became increasingly concerned that the state was ignoring mounting evidence about the risks of methadone. He expressed those concerns to the state Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
