Will giant chinook salmon return? Dam-removal project opens the door

Glines Canyon is a 210-foot-tall concrete high-arch dam. It will be taken down bit by bit beginning this month. Completed in 1927, it is the upper of two dams on the Elwha, at river mile 13. Like Elwha Dam, it was built without fish passage.
